Nick McCarthy
As a former Parachute Regiment Soldier Nick is an extremely motivated person. Whilst serving with the Paras Nick deployed seven times on operational deployments, gaining a wealth of life experience while doing so.
Since leaving the military Nick became involved in the Private Security Industry, initially as a Security Consultant on a major Diamond Mining Project in Sierra Leone, West Africa. Following this Nick returned to the UK to work full-time in his own business working as a professional investigator and close protection officer.
Since 2005 Nick has helped to develop numerous businesses including a prominent and well-establish training company that deliver a portfolio of training courses to the security industry. His role within this company has led to him mentoring a large amount of course students to help them establish themselves within the sector and in some cases help them setup or develop their own businesses, offering much needed information, advice and guidance to service leavers and others.
Nick is a keen volunteer and has, since 2005 taken up roles and dedicated much of his time to help others, both locally and nationally.
Nick has also co-written a book called The Service Leavers Guide, as he knew only too well the perils that are out there for service leavers.
Steve Heaney MC
Steve Heaney MC has an elite military background and specialises in leadership and management, strategising, crisis management and decision-making and peak performance team building and cohesion.

Chris Shaw
Following a career within the Royal Navy, Chris has been working within the private, commercial and government security sectors for over ten years. Operationally, he has managed substantial projects on behalf of government, oil and gas and communications infrastructure clients within some of the most complex regions of the world, including the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific regions.
As a specialist in compliance, assurance and ethics within the security sector, Chris has worked at strategic levels within some of the world’s largest security companies, designing, embedding and auditing systems in compliance with international standards ISO’s 9001, 45001, 14001, 18788, 31000 and 22301, as well as security sector standard PSC.1, and acting in business critical roles focused upon HSE, internal audit, corporate governance and risk management.
At Argus CIC, Chris focuses upon driving industry leading standards of quality and safety, providing strategic and operational direction in the achievement of the businesses goal of operational excellence, and advising the Senior Management on matters relating to enterprise risk.
Martin Cartwright
Martin is the Project Manager for Argus Community Interest Company – this is an area where Martin brings a wealth of experience. Martin has been involved with community interest companies in the past and it is an area that he is passionate about.

Joanne has spent a large portion of her career working with community based companies delivering information, advice and guidance where it is needed – in the heart of the community.
Experienced, quality focused & resourceful, Joanne supports all of our projects handling the administration for the Argus Community Interest Company.
Throughout her career, she has demonstrated the ability to manage numerous projects, understanding the importance of compliance, quality, budgeting and performance in order to achieve business objectives. An effective communicator with great people skills, Joanne develops good relationships with clients, employers and partner organisations.
